Gasshuku!
That's the term for a special kind of austere training.  In the West we might use the term "Bootcamp".

At Biddles Camp Site in 2006, Martyn Harris sensei of the Red Dragon Karate Institute in Cardiff kicked off our first Gasshuku.  A group of us got together from RDKI and from Keiko, and we all trained together, experiencing Karate in the fresh air, on uneven ground, and we had a great time.  We were camping, that year, and John Dyer and his team put together food and refreshments, and in the evening the adults went for a meander to a local place of hospitality while the children were led through a series of activites at the camp.

This year, 2010, we are doing it again at Brecon.  The cost includes food and training for the days we're there, and if you book early enough to get a room allocated then you have a room, and if you are too late then you must camp on the grounds...
Friday August 6th we arrive and check in.
Saturday 7th August we train all day.
Sunday 8th August we train all day and then head home...
The cost is £100, all inclusive.
